Our Vision.

Zanshin Martial Arts & Fitness offers training in martial arts, self defence and fitness and conditioning. The martial arts training is comprehensive and draws on influences from karate, aikido, and muay Thai. The focus is on the art of martial arts as opposed to sports training. Students get fitter and stronger as they progress on their martial arts path while gaining real life skills including self respect, a great work ethic and sense of self.

Our self defence curriculum is based on the principles of awareness, avoidance and pre-emption. We teach you to effectively manage situations of potential and actual conflict in order to survive the acts of violence so prevalent in our society today.

We also offer small group and corporate fitness and conditioning services which get people stronger, leaner, fitter and moving better through predominantly bodyweight exercise and drills. This kind of training works not just your muscles but your whole body as an integrated unit to make you the best you can be.

Head Instructor

Sean Bowring is the owner of Zanshin Martial Arts & Fitness and has been involved in the industry since 1983. He has a Diploma of Fitness and Cert IV in Fitness, is a qualified Personal Trainer, Kettlebell Instructor, Group Fitness Instructor, Older Adults Trainer and Children’s Trainer. He holds a 6th degree Black Belt in Zen do Kai freestyle karate, first degree Black Belt in Aikido, and Level 4 Trainer in Muay Thai.

In addition, Sean has spent several years working in the protection and security industries where he has had to apply his skills in numerous real world situations to effectively and legally resolve conflict situations. Zanshin Martial Arts & Fitness focuses on helping you achieve your goals and we actually teach you everything you need to continue to reap the benefits from your efforts.
